History: In 1996 a team of hard-working patriot social workers and teachers decided to establish as institute of training for the deprived immigrants in Pakistan in order to help and educate the destitute people living away from the county in the critical condition getting shelter away from the warring situation of their country, Afghanistan. Working with the indigent migrated people and getting to discern their private, domestic and overall predicament and setback on unusual issues was the stimulus to a powerful spur to make an Organization raise Human Rights Awareness to key Advocacy, Gender Balance, abolish gender discrimination and build peace. Women were the crucial victims and gender discrimination had spread all over the country. After the Taliban had conquered the country the drawback covered every part of Afghanistan. The team decided to establish an Organization under mane of Afghan Women Rights Organization (AWRO) to raise public awareness to human rights, peace and policies.
AWRO is a Non-Profit and Non-Government Social organization registered under The Ministry of Economy (Registration # 917) in Feb 2007 and the Ministry of Women Affairs having a Serial No 426 in April 2012. The Organization has the membership of many network organizations and has established a network of 80 CSOs and CBOs. AWRO is working for the women empowerment all over Afghanistan, supporting Education, Economy, Capacity building, Advocacy, Research, Livelihood, Democracy, Peace, Health, and Human Rights in the society.
Peaceful communities; where every individual has fair and equitable access to education, justice, health and livelihood opportunities to achieve the great Afghan dream of an educated, rights-oriented and healthy nation.
We aim to work with relevant stakeholders to empower women and generally promote the social, political and economic stability of Afghanistan with an emphasis on education, civil society, health and social services and economic empowerment.
AWRO looks forward to continuing its work and making ever greater contributions to the development of Afghanistan and its people. Toward this end, our programmatic goals for 2017-2022 address needs in the following five focus areas:
